Live Sound Packages

Live Sound Packages

As a DJ, there are going to be times that you need to perform in venues where there is no sound equipment. That means you have to be prepared with your own. Usually a live sound package includes a DJ mixer or controller, a microphone, an amplifier, and PA speakers.

Choosing the Right Live Sound Package

As you decide which mixer is right for you, it's important to think about what you'll be connecting to it. For example, if you're connecting it to software, just really make sure that you can easily configure the mixer to the software and apps you prefer to use. If you're connecting the mixer to a turntable, make sure it has sufficient phono inputs. If you're using an external CD player or controller, make sure it has the right connectors. Ultimately, it's important to really think about the inputs and outputs that your preferred devices will require. Regarding the microphone, thinking about how mobile you want to be when you perform is important: will you need a wireless microphone, or will a standard, corded one do? for amplifiers, it can be hard to decide whether to choose powered or non-powered speakers. For those on a budget, powered speakers combine amplifiers right into the speaker, so they're less difficult to transport and usually less expensive.
